Bingo comparison website OnlineBingoClub.co.uk are offering one lucky couple £5,000 to sponsor their wedding, a competition which has already caused controversy.
However, the contentious scheme has been well received amongst loved-up couples, hit hard by the recession, with the number of entrants expected to double in the next week.
In return for the £5,000 the lucky couple will have to carry the company’s logo on their wedding invitations, table settings and menus and to pose for promotional photographs and publicity material.
The bride will also be expected to sport a logo on her wedding dress – although this will be velcroed on and can be removed for personal photos.
Site founder Rob Hutchison says he’s pleased that so many couples have come forward for the chance to win a bingo wedding.
Mr Hutchison said: “We’re delighted at the response we’ve had so far with more people than expected coming forward to tell us why they deserve the money.
“The big day is never cheap and I’m sure that the lucky winner will really benefit from the extra cash.
“I think featuring the company’s logo is a small price to pay for a day they’ll remember forever.”
Mr Hutchison believes that with such a high quality of entries so far, choosing the winner will be a difficult task.
He said: “We’ve had some great entries already and are expecting a final surge next week. The team and I will sit down and choose a couple - being massive online bingo fans will help, but isn’t essential.
“There’s still a week until the competition closes so if you think you’ve got what it takes to be the UK’s first ever bingo bride then why not email in before Friday’s deadline (9th April)?”
To enter the competition brides to be must send in pictures of themselves and their partner, a short biography about their relationship and 100 words on what it would mean to them to become the world’s first bingo bride, to BingoBride@OnlineBingoClub.co.uk .
